ALL FOR COIMBATORE and all that jazz :

So far KickStart has only had these two crazy social-entrepreneuring boys who created it, writing and reviewing about Kaalan Carnage and Kulfi shops and what not....and quite a decent start  at that *clap clap*

Time for change fellas... Calling all akkas, thangaachis (mind eeet fallows~), mommies, maamis, aunties, phigurus, chicas and all the gloriously feminine pieces of your souls. (deep.. illa?)

Come read, Come contribute, Come review, Come gossip even, Come correct us, Come talk, share and spread that famous Coimbatore kusumbu we is teh known for. Come KickStart this city up !!

Review your favorite shops, hang out joints, any thing under the sun, tell these poor boys where all the nice girls are…or pshaaaww* don’t tell them :D, tell the girls where we can get away from them and have much more fun girls’days out. Tell everyone what to do (whaata fun illa :P), where to go, where to be and what’s fun and in and do keep coming to read and find out and know it all… Coz’ hey… girls always know best ;)

………….

THE NEWS AROUND TOWN :

Any of us who read those tiny little 5 line paragraphs regularly at the bottom of Metroplus and/or Expresso, will know that Atmos and Vibe, the lifestyle store… sorry, ATMOS is moving out of Race Course!! *vibe can move wherever it wants!*

Quite the cliché hang-out joint that it is, it's also home to so many memories for so many people who had nowhere else to go for a date, for a snack, for a panchayat, for a place to chill those boring afternoons away, and other velaillathagiri, randomnesses and crazy good times in dahlin' Coimbatore.

I can’t quite imagine that quaint little open air, bohemian bungalow thing that held such prominence in the surroundings of Race Course, moving into the Oxford Bookstore on Trichy Road. HOW. WHAt. WHyyYY… ? So what happens to –nobody-really-comes-here-even-though-its-nice Cha(i) bar ?

Sighing the nostalgia away, there's a new store for bizarre clothing (Yes, you read that right) being opened today (19th Nov). South Hood Ventures owned by Venkatkumar Vijayakumar and Co., call their new brand, DOPE (You read it right again). The promos, teasers, posters pique one’s interest, their marketing strategy is different and innovative..well I guess they aren’t tagging it as the “shades of the new rebel” for nothing. Actors Surya and his brother Karthi love Dope. (I couldn’t resist inviting a defamation suit right there). Surya even contributed some designs. They’re both coming to open the store this evening at 1, Club Road (behind Nilgiris). Definitely sounds worth checking out.. We’ll visit the place soon and tell you all about it unless one of you decides to do us the deed. Here's their facebook page if you want to check it out.

Going back to the news about Atmos, whether you like it moving out or not or even if you simply don’t care, they’re having a farewell bash on November 21st, at 6:30 pm, called ‘This is it’ *eyaaoow* With a buffet for Rs.75 and a band (yes! A band) called Slash Evolution playing Blues and Rock. You should go.

Ah! At last a post...i've been checking here almost everyday for something new...
I happen to be one of those who never went to atmos that much.... Anyway that thing you mentioned about the promos for dope got me thinking...people dont really look into advertising that much nowadays...people (refering to the common man) seem to want to notice only the advertisement that have all the artificially beautified girls and not the ones that actually convey something meaningful. For example how many have noticed the advert for ceat two wheeler tires in ganapathy? Really made a lot of sense to me.

@ the dung beetle.

Well there's here and there and everywhere to go to in Coimbatore right... like i said, cliche as it is, still people went there when they had no other place to go to while away a bit of time.

advertising is really happening... but I think the people who actually do have the money to throw do look for meaningful advertisements as well, and then there's the docomo tune and the zoozoos and vodafone busy tones that are just plain addictive and hence catch peoples fancy..

i have a personal interest in advertising and it'd be nice if you could tell me about the ad you're talking about, coz i aint going anywhere that side anytime soon.

Ah, its a huge picture from the perspective of a motorcyclist, depicting a view of a typical overpopulated indian road. The driver of the car in front of the rider has his door open and is spitting paan and the caption reads "the roads are filled with idiots".

And yes i really do agree with you on your view about vodafone. Really do lure people in dont they. I myself fell for it sadly and got myself a postpaid connection. Hell was all i faced after that. Prepaid is the best unless you are extremely rich and dont care about a few hundred rupees.

And to people thinking of heading out to nearby anaikatti and the surrounding areas please dont risk it unless you have a car that floats or an offroader. :) believe me, i tried just this morning and was forced to turn back at kanuvai.

Heya. Finally. something new. Why not a printed magazine? makes more sense for advertising.

And guys about the ATMOS move out party, the party was a really good one. The band was really good playing some soft rock numbers like Words, Country roads..... and I enjoyed my time there. Hope you guys didn't miss it. And i don't think ATMOS in Oxford book store can get this kinda ambiance. Finally i wish that we have such good bands playing often in and around the city.
