Let me serve you info about namma ooru! To start with, let's be honest. We cant compare ourselves with metros!
Lets start with the 'have nots': We dont have even a single mall yet(one or two are coming up, yes), no bowling alley, no decent discs, dearth of grounds for sports, no food court(ignoring the fact that eating out options are limited, and im not talking about fast food alone), and i bet you could add more to the list.
Now about the "haves": a beautiful city that isnt as polluted as most metros, good water, decent weather, rare traffic jams, but most of all, a vibrant culture and serene get-aways close by! What better than biking away to marudamalai or annaikatti or hiking in topslip?
Point is, I'm the guy who says "Im bored. Entertain me" to everyone around me, letting my boredom influence them too! :P. So I thought why not find something new myself? And pass on the light my comrades in the kingdom of boredom!

1. Best Kalaan shop is on N.S.R. Road in Saibaba Colony. If you just keep going down the road from Thadagam road to Mettupalayam road you will see this long que of people outside one simple kalaan shop. That's the best one I know!
2. There are quite a few bowling allies in R.S. Puram.
3. There are good food joints (quite economical and extremely tasty!) on Avanashi Road near p.s.g. tech and also in race Course Area and on D.B. Road in R.S.Puram.
4. There is a disc place where u can go drink, dance, and its called Bikes and Barrels.
5 The only think lacking in CBE is the freedom in engineering colleges! Guy-girl interaction is 0 to 5% of what I have observed in metros.
I still love my Coimbatore!

@suraj:
1) yeah its in our list! we will review!
2) there was one.. crazy balls. which closed.
3) they are there, and ppl dont know much about them.. so thats ONE of the reasons this blog was started!
4) yeah we know very well about bikes..
5) guy girl interaction is good in most cbe colleges. especially in mine, amrita...
oh, btw, bikes is more of a pub-cum-wannabe disc... there was another disc which came up in rs puram, which is now closed for renovation
Suraj @ THis blog was also made to inform ex Coimbatoreians like ya abt whats happening . :D
Suraj @ thanks for your nomination and i agree there are good economical food joints :)
@Anirudh
the pub in rs puram went on flames and i think they have no intention to open it again.....
